Painted Desert at Sunrise • Petrified Forest National Park, Arizona

| I don't often get this abstract in my work, but I was inspired by the concept of layers. So much of the park seems to be about layers the layered hills of the bentonite badlands eroded layers that reveal petrified wood, fossils, and archeological sites limestone with a natural varnish layer that ancient people chipped away to create petroglyphs. I took the colors of a painted desert sunrise and "stretched" them a bit to create this layered piece. | |||||||||||
