Artist's Statement
My Christian faith calls me to be diligent and selfless in using the creative gifts I've been given, and calls me to be mindful of protecting and caring for the earth and all its inhabitants Therefore:
• My joy begins, as an artist, with exploring, discovery, and experimenting. My joy is complete when sharing that creative joy with others through the skillful execution of my work.
• I believe that learning and building one's skills as an artist is a life-long pursuit. I have a great curiosity and it is curiosity that drives my work. What I discover continually "grows" my art. The world I explore is incredibly diverse therefore my work tends to be diverse. Just when you think that you can peg my work as traditional, impressionistic, expressionistic, or abstract, you will find I have moved outside those boxes a natural result of my willingness to let concepts emerge from many different places in my life.
• The natural world is a special inspiration for my work. One of my favorite quotes is from Vincent Van Gogh " It is not the language of painters but the language of nature which one should listen to, the feeling for the things themselves, for reality, is more important than the feeling for pictures.
